First, our team makes the required funeral arrangements. Then, it immediately undertakes the task of searching for the required legal documents, which includes the official proof of death and the last will and testament of the deceased.
In the event that the will is not notarized, we request that a court grant probate of the will so that it may come into effect.
In the absence of a valid testament, we study the provisions of the Civil Code of Québec as regards the transfer of assets. It is worth noting that the legislation includes provisions for the division of the estate between family members when the deceased has not provided instructions. This step allows us to identify the potential heirs.
